Well August has flown by, hasn’t it? Here are a few highlights from this week!

  • We grabbed dessert after dinner last week at Sugar Milk and really enjoyed the corn flakes on our ice cream cone. Perfect combo of a little salty/crunchy with the sweet/creamy.

  • I tried on this hat at a local surf shop and loved it so much. Wish it was a little more affordable but now I have my eye out for something similar at a better price point.

  • This is kind of an awkward topic but I found this 2 part series and Q&A session from Dr. Juli Slattery’s conference at a local church on Sexuality and the Gospel so informative. People could ask anything (and i mean ANYTHING) regarding sexuality and she answered it based on her clinical expertise with biblical backing. I had the privilege of have Dr. Slattery as my teacher during my time at the Focus on the Family Institute 10 years ago and she is truly such a wise, Godly woman who is tackling a topic head on that the church has shied away from addressing for so long.

  • I shared this easy, healthy southwest chicken burrito recipe that you can make for lunch or dinner. You can prepare it in advance and quickly assemble them for busy days or wrap it in foil and take it on the go.

  • Today wraps up the second week of preschool and I feel like we are in a good groove with it all now. I love all the cute crafts Sutton comes home with…but can I just be honest and say that 99.9% of them are going in the trash…call me heartless but I’ll save the best ones. My countertops are already full of stacks of papers!

  • Speaking of countertops, I did my first round of selecting kitchen and master bath countertops and am currently weighing the option of marble or quartz. I move really fast and am not careful in the kitchen so I fear that the patina will be over the top on marble. However, nothing looks as good as marble so I’m struggling selecting a quartz I like. I am considering both Cambria quartz in Torquay or Pompeii quartz in carrara.

  • LET THERE BE LIGHT! Lights are being installed and I got my first glimpse of what the house will look like all lit up. It really felt so warm already so I can’t imagine how great it will be once we have the floors (and furniture!) in!

  • And one more note on the house…remember in last week’s snapshot how I shared I selected my paint colors? Yeah I already changed them…I’m sure my contractor loves me.

LIGHTS!!! Yay!

  • The pumpkin spice latte is back at Starbucks, which use to make me cringe, but now I look forward to it! A friend of mine shared this last year and I was hooked. It kind of became a problem. Here’s the order I like to get:

    • Grande iced latte with whole milk with 1 pump of pumpkin sauce and 1 pump of chai.

  • We had Mississippi roast and honey pecan baked salmon this week.

  • This short sleeve sweatshirt from Target is super cute as a transitional piece from summer to fall. Could be worn tucked in or out.

  • I enjoyed listening to this song this week

  • The Tuckernuck sale is still going on where you can take an additional 25% off with the code EXTRA25. Here are some of my favorite items from it.

  • College football officially kicks off this weekend so I made a game day style board with some fun outfit ideas.

  • This quote really struck me: “Religion stresses holiness over grace. Irreligion stresses freedom over holiness. Christianity is freedom through grace that leads to holiness”- Tim Keller

So I’m sure you’ve seen by now that we’ve got a pretty substantial hurricane headed our way. Dwight is going to Atlanta for the Bama game on Saturday so the kids and I are fortunately going to Texas to ride out the storm. We keep praying that it would just spin out into the ocean…this is always a tense time of year living along the east coast.

Have a great weekend!
