I originally posted this in 2019, but I’ve had my bag almost three years now and use it daily so I wanted to repost this with new links in case you are looking for a great mom bag! Not listed are crumpled receipts, goldfish crumbs and smooshed sticks of gum ; )

I had a friend of mine recently ask me about the tote bag I use so I decided to share the details along with what all I carry inside of it here on the blog. I made the switch from a diaper bag to exclusively carrying a tote/purse once Sutton was about 8 months old, simply because I got tired of carrying around more than one bag. As a new mom, i carried WAY more with me than i needed and I quickly realized It just wasn’t necessary or practical to have a giant diaper bag AND my purse. If I needed to drop my kids off somewhere like their grandparents house or the church nursery, I used little backpacks for each of them that I still use today for that purpose. I try to keep (when i remember!) their backpacks in the car with a set of extra clothes or other things I might need while out of the house.

My personal purse at the time was a large Longchamp bag (which I still love and use from time to time), but I recently switched to the MZ Wallace when my husband gave it to me for Christmas this year. It’s been a really great bag and is SUPER lightweight, which is so important for a mom of little ones like myself who have to carry around a LOT of stuff. This tote is typically used as a travel bag but I enjoy using it as my everyday purse because of how functional it is for me. It is on the pricer side, but I have also linked some dupes below that are about 1/3 of the price and look almost identical.

I always find it interesting to know random things like what people carry in their purses, so if this is your sort of thing too…hopefully this post is helpful and won’t bore you to tears 😉

MZ Wallace Metro Tote/Longchamp/MZ Wallace Dupes

Like I mentioned, I carried my Longchamp Le Pilage for years and loved it. It’s very similar to the MZ Wallace in that it’s a large tote bag with nothing fancy to it. The MZ Wallace has more pockets so that’s something I appreciate about it since the Longchamp has 0 interior pockets. The MZ Wallace dupes on Amazon are tagged here if you like the look but don’t care for the price tag.

Diaper Bag Insert/ Purse Organizer/Cosmetic Bag

I use a diaper bag insert to help keep me organized because it has a wide, large pocket that perfectly fits about 4-5 diapers and a pack of wipes, but if you don’t have little ones in diapers and are just looking for a purse organizer, this one is highly rated and at a good price. I really like diaper bag insert because its a wipeable/washable material that is also really lightweight. I’ve used it for almost 4 years now and it has held up well and easily transfers from purse to purse. I also like to use a cosmetic bag to keep all of my smaller personal items in one place. I loved these knock off Louis Vuitton bags that are really affordable but whatever you decide to use, make sure it has a zipper so your things can stay nice and contained.

Snacks/Kid Stuff/Water Bottle

Kids are ALWAYS hungry, aren’t they? I keep a few of these Z Bar granola bars on hand for the kiddos and I personally like to have a One Protein Bar (Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is my fav flavor) for myself. I also never leave home without my tall, skinny water bottle full of water for myself and the kids that fits nicely in one of the compartments of the organizer. It’s also a good idea to have something for busy hands to do when you find yourself in somewhere where there is unexpected waiting and these Magformers are perfect. I just store them in a ziplock.

Antibacterial Wipes/Hand Sanitizer/Diapers/Baby Wipes

This Babyganics hand sanitizer is my favorite because it doesn’t dry out your hands and doesn’t leave you smelling like you are drenched in alcohol. Diapers and wipes are obviously your own personal preference but we are devoted Huggies Little Movers users and I like to use the reusable wipe storage package so I don’t have to buy individual wipe packages over and over (and its a smaller size than a standard wipe package that can take up a lot of room).

Beauty Items

I always have a tube of my favorite lip stuff, Fresh Sugar Lip treatment in shade petal as well as this concealer by MAC in my cosmetic pouch. They both help me looked refreshed while on the go and a spritz of rosewater spray for a quick shot of hydration gives me a glowy look. My personal favorite rose water spray is from Trader Joes but the Mario Badescu option is widely available and also comes in a travel size. A teletie hair tie is a necessity to have on hand and I love that they don’t crease your hair (and look cute too!). I will always be a Texan at my roots so I keep a teasing comb in my bag…you know, when my hair needs a little umph 😉 Lastly, I like to have a sample size bottle of my favorite perfume. You can buy one on Amazon of pretty much any scent but also just ask what they have on hand there in the fragrance department and I’m sure they’d be happy to give you one complimentary.

Sun Hat/ Sunglasses/Big O Keying

I have a brown and black pair of sunglasses in my bag and this roll-up sunhat has come in handy way more times that I thought it would…and it’s only $9.99. Finally, This big O key ring has been probably my best purchase of 2019. I used to scavenge for my keys almost every time I needed them but not anymore! If you don’t have one of these…I don’t exaggerate when I say you NEED one in your life.

I hope you were able to take away some new ideas or find some helpful items. Don’t hesitate to reach out with questions!
