To round out my holiday lipstick series, I intended to end with just bronze options…but as I’m sure you have already deducted after reading the title of this post you noticed I covering more than just bronze! I realized I still had a few other color colors I wanted to share so let’s just consider this the fruity pebbles of lipstick posts!
I began with red since most people associate red with Christmas and that seems like an obvious go-to lipstick shade for a party or family gathering…but there really are no true rules when it comes to selecting your bold lip color around the holidays. The second post featured three great pink options and now I’m rounding it out with a berry, bronze and two corals.
First up, berry! I found the Maybelline Lipsational Blissful Berry at my local Publix and was really surprised at how much I liked it. I don’t have high expectations for drug store brands but I would compare this formula to a moisturizing Mac lipstick. It has a creamy consistency that goes on with more pink than purple undertones on me…but depending on your skin tone, it could go the other way. The lasting power is average and it does have a tendency to settle into the lines of your lips. I would gibe this a 7 out of 10 stars.
I shared on an instagram post several weeks ago that this was the first tube of real lipstick my mom ever bought me when I was 14 and I am still wearing it today at 30 years old! I have recommended Clinque’s Surprise to many a friend as I find it to be a universally flattering color that is a neutral with hints of maroon and a bit of shimmer. I love that this lipstick doesn’t settle into the lines of my lips and the lasting power is pretty strong. I give this a 9 out of 10.
The first shade of coral i love is YSL’s Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-In-Srick in shade Orange Perfecto. I have had this tube for a few years now and while it is certainly the most expensive lipstick I’ve ever purchased…it is a luxury product for a reason. The formula is just as the name suggests, oily. It is the most hydrating lipstick I have ever used and has a high shine finish. Its not sticky like a gloss and despite its creamy composition…it is actually pretty long lasting. I would compare it to Fresh’s Sugar Lip Treatment except with higher pigmentation. This would be a great gift for the lady who has everything and you could even engrave her name on the tube, which is a complimentary service they provide when you purchase from the YSL website. I give this product an 9 out of 10.
Bare Minerals Matte Statement Matte Liquid Lipstick in shade Fire
And finally to round out my picks…Bare Minerals Matte Statement Matte Liquid Lipstick in shade Fire. This is a recent purchase for me and I honestly don’t know why I haven’t heard more about this line of bare minerals lipsticks. I knew I wanted this shade when I saw Sheridan French wearing it and reached out to her to see what the product was. I picked it up at Ulta and I definitely want to get additional shades. The formula is very creamy despite being a matte finish and I love how you can use the wand applicator to precisely line and fill in your lips. The orangey red is truly such a beautiful color and makes a big statement. I give this a 9 out of 10.
I hope you find a bold lip color to wear this Christmas season and that my suggestions have been helpful.
