A Little Weather Vane & The Big Storm

IMG_1641 2.jpg

I spotted this little weather vane on a rooftop this past Saturday, which was the day we were (originally) expecting the hurricane to make landfall. The weather was beautiful and while the wind WAS indeed blowing, it was hardly enough to even allow the little sailboat perched atop the iron coordinate arms to move one way or another.

The entire day resulted in barely a drop of rain, which felt ironic given the general doom and gloom that we were hearing sound bites of on the news. Was the storm out there? Absolutely. But I was expecting to see that little boat frantically spinning around…yet there is stood. Motionless and unmoved.

It made me think about how we are to be, those of us rooted in Christ, not wavered by the chaos of the world. And there is a LOT of chaos out there right now….and many days I feel QUITE WAVERED by it all. Deciphering what is truth feels like an impossible feat as not only does it seem to change almost daily, but its also so easy to jump on the latest theory, mainly because we are all so desperate for answers. But yet, the fact remains that there is still so much we don’t know, even experts we look to guide us are unsure…so what do we do? We turn to the one place that we KNOW is true

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope, without wavering, for HE who promised is FAITHFUL.
Hebrews 10:23

I lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. – Psalm 121:1-2

And while no, life is not always easy or certain…we DO KNOW that He’s got the whole world in His hands…
