“Rock me mama” he said as I laid him in his crib for a nap. Most days I tell him ‘not today buddy’, eager to get to my alone time I have during the afternoon while the kids rest…but today I scooped him up, legs hanging way over my arms and sat in the rocking chair. He asked me to sing Holy Holy Holy and it wasn’t long before big sister came in, hearing us sing, and crawled in my lap too. “Let’s sing Jesus Loves Me!” she said, and then began sweetly humming the tune. I joined in and when I got to the phrase “Yes, Jesus loves me”, I could hardly get the words out through a cracked voice as the tears ran down my face…and I realized why I had said yes to rocking my (big) babies today. God met me in that moment.

The morning had comprised of many moments of short tempered responses from me and I was feeling guilt for not being kinder or more patient with them. But God knew i needed to sing those words not only over my children, but also myself.

It’s amazing that no matter how long I walk with the Lord, the good news of the gospel message that YES! Jesus loves ME, even at my worst, is beyond me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So if you are a weary mom who is feeling discouraged or regretful today over a harsh response, quick temper or just purely exhausted…Jesus loves you, this I know, for the Bible tells me so. I’ve tried (and continue to try) to do it in my own strength, and I always come up lacking. But with God grace and endless mercy and forgiveness, I know I can begin again, over and over because of his limitless love for me. Jesus love me…Jesus loves you. It’s that simple ❤️⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
